We do love a grand entrance to a golf club – a long winding exclusive drive flanked by tall healthy rhododendrons is exactly what greets you at Bearwood Lakes.

The other "greeting" is from the staff, a genuine, warm, relaxed and meaningful welcome, irrespective of status, from management, waitresses, green keepers – indeed everybody!  How refreshing in this sometimes uncivilised and uncultured world!

When you walk in the clubhouse, the lounge and restaurant affords a magnificent view holes 1, 11 and 18 and not just a glimpse of the fairways or teeing areas, but the complete length of each hole such is the elevation.

The course is certainly not hilly, a little undulating maybe but that only adds to its charm. It's deceptively tough without being silly and has a plethora of interesting challenges particularly on the back nine where the water comes into play. There are many secret little borrows on the greens, which have been in excellent condition each time we have been fortunate enough to play.

This is a place that has to be visited. It's exclusive and tucked away and you will be impressed!
