Set alongside the river Spey in the heart of the Cairngorms National Park, this is a very short course by modern standards. Measuring just under 6000 yards it is a course with a difference – surrounded by stunning scenery and offering challenges that will test any golfer.
18 completely individual holes, cleverly and sensitively routed through a birch forest, maximising the natural landscape and producing a beautiful and testing course. If you have forgotten your driver it is not a problem, because good scores are generated by accuracy rather than length at this little gem.
The 6th hole is often regarded as the course's "signature" hole. A good drive down the narrow tree-lined dogleg leaves a mid-iron approach shot to the plateau green, which is guarded by bunkers to the left and right, but frankly, the signature hole could be any of the 18.
Unusually the 1st hole is a par 3 and in some respects this encapsulates the spirit of this place – not quirky, not gimmicky – just good fun and spectacular scenery.
