Possibly the best description of Liphook is that it is pretty and quaint and very interesting! What that doesn't say however, is that in the days of 7000 yard courses, it is a pleasure to play a course where strategy and careful planning are far more important than the unleashing of 300 yard drives.

It may be short by today's standards, but it has a lovely balance of interesting and challenging holes – enough to keep all levels of golfers on their toes. It also joins the ranks of those courses which start with a Par 3.

The course always seems to be in pristine condition and the greens in particular are consistent - fast and very true. It winds its way amongst the heather and the trees that are the hallmark of this area of Hampshire and there is a distinct feeling of being "special" whilst playing here!

It's difficult to pick a favourite hole, but the sequence just after the turn was particularly enchanting and summed up all that is good about this charming and picturesque course.
