It could be argued that because Lough Erne is the dominant feature of this new venture then that is how this resort derived its name. However, Castle Hume Lough also plays a significant part in this magnificent complex which only opened in July 2009. Sometimes the hype outweighs the actual experience – but not in this case! The course and the hotel are simply magnificent and already this place is being talked about as a future championship venue.

Whilst many of the holes border the two Lough's, the early holes meander through an avenue of tall trees and it would be easy to go into detail about each hole – such is the variation. Perhaps it is appropriate to mention the short par 4 10th which has a green jutting out in the lake and is a good example of a risk and reward hole. Certainly the green is driveable, but the target is small and the Lough beckons!

With many tee box variations, this course will suit all golfing levels and with the benefit of maturity it will undoubtedly become one of the leading venues in Ireland – if not the British Isles.
