This course is stunningly good, with just about every feature you would wish to find on a links course. The greens are remarkably true and quick, with cleverly placed and penalising bunkers on every hole. Some of the rough is seriously deep and make no mistake, this will test every aspect of your golf game.
It has the appearance of having grown rather than having been built and you will need a caddie to help plot your way round. There are a lot of blind shots where you drive unsighted over massive dunes hoping there is a fairway somewhere in that direction.
With its enormous 3 story, sleeper-lined borders, Hells Bunker on the 4th hole is one of the largest golf bunkers you are likely to see and the front nine holes are nothing short of dramatic.
The back nine is just long and difficult, with the last four holes being some of the toughest closing holes in golf.
We felt that this was links golf at its very best. The constantly changing direction of the holes means that the wind is rarely in the same direction for consecutive tee shots and the penalties for straying off line are severe.
It is a challenge not to be missed.
