If millionaires golf means playing on a course without anyone chasing you or holding you up, then Swinley Forest is the place to go to; that is if you can find a way of playing there!

Behind this old fashioned charm however, is a very attractive golf course and certainly not one that gives in easily. The heather which is so prominent at its near neighbours Sunningdale and The Berkshire, proudly blossoms here too and constitutes most of the rough.

In our view the layout is superb. It's not overly long (about 6000 yards) and on each occasion we have found the greens to be very quick, with lots of subtle borrows. Being a big hitter always helps, but placement and club selection are more important in this quiet corner of Berkshire.

The 17th is an excellent par 3 where only a perfectly hit shot will hold the green, but It would be wrong to single out one hole in this collection of gems. This brief review would not be complete without mention of the buffet lunch, which is certainly on par with the quality of the course.
