Tucked away behind the RHS gardens at Wisley, this exclusive private club has 3 loops of nine holes and despite being a relatively new course (1991), it has already been the subject of extensive improvement in order to maintain its status in this area of wonderful golf courses.

It is debatable as to which two of the three 9's make for a perfect round, because each 9 has considerable merit in its own right. The Garden 9 has undergone most surgery in the last year and we opted to play the Mill and Church that were absolutely stunning.

There are probably more water hazards here than any other golf course in the UK and the clever landscaping ensures that they all come into play. The greens were magnificent very quick but unerringly true, the rough long and penal and it is a big advantage to be long and straight off the tee.

Probably the most difficult aspect however, is being able to play, because it is exclusive and only open to members and invited guests.  If you get the chance, don't miss it.
