The Duchess is the shortest and prettiest of the three courses at Woburn. Like the Dukes, it runs through undulating woodland where the fairways are flanked by tall pines. It is less forgiving to the wayward shots than the other two however and if you cannot hit the ball straight it is best you do not play here!

You need good course management to negotiate your way through this avenue of beautiful trees onto greens which are generally smaller than the Dukes and the Marquess. There is a sense of intimacy to this golf course and a feeling of solitary isolation, such is the screening afforded by the woodland.

Most of the par 3's are long and challenging. Possibly the toughest is the 200 yard 7th that has a huge bunker to the front and right of a sloping green and a large ridge that tends to push anything slightly left into the trees.

Like the Dukes, it is perhaps more suited to the low handicap golfer, but without the length of the Dukes it does provide an opportunity for golfers of all levels to enjoy the experience.
