There are three golf courses beginning with 'W' in this part of Surrey, all within a radius of 5 miles and many would argue that Worplesden is the best. It's not long, but it is quality and very picturesque with a large variety of interesting holes on this heath land. If there is a downside, it is the need to cross the busy A322, but that should not detract from the quality of the course.
Flanked by many mature trees, the course winds its way along gently undulating fairways bordered by punishing heather. Accuracy is certainly more important than length, but you have to craft your way round this little gem.
Worplesdon has a wealth of fine holes including some impressive par 3s – one of which features the signature hole 10th which has a large lake to carry off the tee and a testing three-tier green.
There is a distinct feeling of class at this club, from the springy fairways to the immaculate greens the place oozes quality and in order to make up your mind which is the best of the 3 W's, our suggestion is to play them all in quick succession!
